New Skilled Occupation List
A new skilled occupation list (“SOL”) was issued on 1 July 2010. General Skilled Migration (“GSM”) applicants for a visa must nominate an occupation on the SOL applicable to their circumstances at the time they apply:

- SOL schedule 1: only applies to GSM applicants who lodged their application prior to 1 July 2010
- SOL schedule 2: applies to GSM applicants who are eligible for transitional arrangements and who lodge their application before 1 January 2013
- SOL schedule 3: current SOL, applies to all new GSM applicants (including applicants eligible for transitional arrangements if they prefer to use it)
- SOL schedule 4: applies to GSM applicants who are nominated by a State or Territory under a State Migration Plan
