On 17.04.2019, a new visa category will come into force: the Temporary Sponsored Parent Visa (subclass 870).
Main features:
- will allow for a maximum 10 years cumulative stay
- 3 year validity: AUD 5,000
- 5 year validity: AUD 10,000
- no need to meet the balance of family test
- no pathway to permanent residency
- sponsor must be approved before the visa application can be lodged
- the sponsor must have a minimum household taxable income of AUD 38,454.80
- no sponsorship bond required
