On 17.04.2019, the family sponsorship framework will change: the sponsor will first need to submit an application to be approved as a family sponsor.
The visa application can only be submitted once the sponsorship application has been approved.
One of the aim of this change is to improve the management of family violence in the family sponsored program: the sponsor will have to provide police clearances to be approved as a Family Sponsor.
The approved Family Sponsor will also have obligations. Sanctions will apply in case of breach of Sponsor obligations.
